Hold it right there, buddy! Web Design Laws You Should Never Break
Blah....

What does it mean to have a web safe color site? Basically, some old computers can only support 256 colors or true color (32 bit) is sacrificed in order to gain resolution. A computer set to 256 colors can only see what is called "web safe colors." Anything outside of those colors will be approximated and will end up looking really weird. Care for an example?
256 Web Safe Colors

Yuck! Good news though, folks. According to the latest statistics on color depth, only 4% of internet users are at 8 bit or 256 colors. The majority of people are viewing your site with 16 bit color. This means that they can view the majority of colors just fine and the difference between the colors you use and the colors they see isn't noticable.

Let's get on to the web design laws.
